This project aimed to tell a visual narrative through a series of mixed media artworks, blending photography with paint and digital alterations. I used a base of photography that I captured over the winter when in Japan, and used paint to explore various themes and emotions based on my personal reflection.
With this project I aimed to capture the story behind the photograph, blend artforms together seamlessly, and create a visually unique and cohesive narrative.
Exploratory in nature, this project was as much about the processing of images and learning new techniques along the way as it was about the final product. Through this work I was able to reflect and remiss through thousands of photographs, while conceptually diving deeper into each image and the context surrounding it.
My visual inspiration for many of the pieces came from the culture surrounding me when I was there. Visually, I wanted to introduce fiction, memories, and dream-like visuals to give a new life to each scene. Through these elements I hoped to capture my personal experience in my own unique style.
